| Melt Shortening. Cool. Add sugar, molasses and egg. Beat well. |
| Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, cloves, ginger, cinnamon
and salt. |
| Add to first mixture. Mix well and chill. |
| Form into small balls (about a tablespoon scoop). Roll in sugar
(best if sugar is in a bowl). |
| Place on greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. |
| Bake at 375°Farenheit for 8 to 10 minutes. |
| Eat when cool. (though they are very nice when they are still slightly
warm.) |
