Visit Chiang Mai, North Thailand Khao Sok - GO THERE! Bangkok - exotic and exciting. Jump to our Travels of Koh Pha Ngan Mae Sai - Burma Border

Thailand.

What a beautiful place.

Peaceful and relaxing, fairly inexpensive by western standards, and clean. It is truly a joy to be here.

We travelled through Thailand going one way - overland to Koh Pha Ngan.

It is a 15 hour long journey:

Take the train from Humpalong Station, Bangkok, to the town of Surat Thani (10 hrs).

From there take a bus (1.5hrs) to the port of Surat Thani.

Then get the boat, stopping at Ko Samui and finally arriving in Koh Pha Ngan two and a half hours later.

Including waiting for the respective vehicles -fifteen hours in total. Fun, but long.

Bangkok

It sure is a fantastic city. Some people I have run into during our travels dislike the place, but to be honest - I can not see why. Perhaps it was their choice of hotel? Who knows.

I found the city a bright and breezy fun and full of life. We did have a good guide. (Thanks Nirav.) The people of Thailand are full of smiles and giggles always enjoying themselves whatever they are doing. I highly recommend getting some fresh cut pineapple from a street vendor - exquisite (it was all I ate for days, yum!) And also, buy yourself a nice pair of sandals and a watch. They are cheap and work fine.

Even if you have doubts get a Thai Massage. You will feel like a new person when you walk out of there. In a way you are not sure whether they are going to pull your body apart at times, but in the end you will feel great. Well worth a visit. . . read more

Koh PHA Ngan

Yep, just like this. All day long. Sun shining, sunsets like what you see here, phenomenal.

Cheap. Fun. Sun. Quiet (if you want it) and most of all . . . the ocean five feet from your door

Khao Sok National Park

Khao Sok National Park.

We recommend a visit.

You will be impressed and inspired. Stay at Our Jungle House in the National Park.

Our friends Francis and Tim run the place and are two of the nicest people we have met.. We miss them. It was one of our most memorable times. . . read more
