We've created a gallery to share what we've been up to... from watching kangaroos in the garden to building a garden... from the beaches to the mountaintops (through the forests)... enjoy...
A few new videos of the boys driving a tractor at Greenfield Farm in Albany, Western Australia last weekend.

July 2008 - We're down south
in our new home in Denmark, Western Australia. It's directly
facing south, towards Antarctica. The new web banner you
see above is our new local area, it's called the Rainbow
Coast which stretches from Walpole
in the West, through Denmark,
and on to Albany
in the East.
We're
enjoying all the space. The boys are growing fast. Darshan's
using full sentences. "Daddy boots on to go outside?"
"Me coming too?" "Daddy put this stone in
mine pocket?" What a cute little boy! Devon is teaching
himself numbers and letters. asking us how to spell things
and tracing the letters with his finger in the air. He's
very good at doing puzzles and is clever as all getout.
We're living just on the Wilson Inlet, which is a huge
inland inlet which is separated from the Great Southern
Ocean by a sandbar, where a channel has just been dug. The
boys and I were at Ocean Beach this morning (July 21, 2008)
watching the inlet empty into the sea.
A
selection of the Natural Beauty of the Rainbow
Coast, our new neighbourhood in Western Australia can
be viewed on our new website: www.rainbowcoast.com.au
The south most point of Western Australia, in West Cape
Howe National Park, is not far away. This land was connected
to Antarctica long before we'd arrived.
The air is it's freshest down here, as it is very clean
from wrapping around the planet, then coursing over Antarctica
before traveling over the Great Southern Ocean to here...
apparently it's some of the the cleanest in the world.
The bird life is amazing and we have a bird sanctuary island
just in front of our house in the Inlet >> Western
Australian Pelicans and Black Swans abound. >>
Australia Day 2008
Devon
has grown so much, especially in language
we saw eight helicopters fly by in formation, when he
said,
"They're flying their helicopters in an Air Parade.
They're celebrating because it's Australia Day".
Devon was also an exceptionally brave little
boy when
he was stung by a scorpion. He remained calm when we google'd
'scorpion stings in WA' We explained to him that it would
hurt for a while
but then his body would dissolve the venom and he'd be
OK again. But it would hurt. The best thing you can do
is to keep ICE on it and drink fluids which will lower
the swelling and reduce the pain.
He kept ice on it for hours. We checked
regularly, and the swelling had definitely stopped and
was receding. He asked me whether it would be hurting
by the time of the fireworks. I said that it was likely
that his awesome little body would sort it out quickly.
We put a dragon tattoo on his other forearm, for bravery.
He had at least four big glasses of juice, and when he
removed the ice three hours later it was gone. Just in
time for fireworks.
Darshan woke up this morning (yes, at 5:45am)
saying, "Boom, Boom."
As we explored the garden this morning, he wanted to go
into the bushland and onto the quarry ridge to see the
fireworks - ie: out the back gate.
From the ridge we had a wonderful view
of Fremantle's fireworks, and by turning our head slightly,
a great, though distant, view of Perth's.
A brief
current political commentary:
I WOULD LIKE THE WORLD TO THINK HIGHLY OF OUR COUNTRY
CHANGE AMERICA'S FACE TO THE WORLD
This is not the true face of our contry. It is a facade.
For many years I have been wondering about my homeland.
The United States has not felt (to me) united since I
was a small boy. It has increasingly felt divided. Divided
by politics, by race, by colour, by creed. Divided by
spirit, divided by need. Divided by a system our forefathers
never dreamed. By money, by corporate uncaring greed.
It is a long time since I've been proud to be an american.
Not least of all because of the fundimental integrity
issue which is rocking the boat. "Thou shall not
kill (unless there is lots of money to be made by it)."
It is happening in our healthcare, it is happening in
our jobs, it is happening in our politics. We should be
able to be bigger than this. We should be able to stand
as brothers and sisters in our own neighbourhoods, knowing
that our neighbour is not our enemy. Then maybe we stand
in a world where we are all brothers and sisters. I believe
this to be true, that if we can disarm ourselves of hate,
prejiduce, greed and meet the world as it is then we can
change the world. It is our only hope. Yes we can!

Australia
Day.
It was quite an extraordinary day.
Houses

Coast in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia.
(basically overlooking Antarctica). The house has rainwater
tanks, no postman or bin man, but we have ADSL (high speed
internet), which sorts us down to a tee.
Boys are growing smarter and more beautiful
by the day.
If
people become ecstatic the whole society will have to
change, because this society is based on misery. If people
are blissful you cannot lead them to war -- to Vietnam,
or to Egypt, or to Israel. No. Someone who is blissful
will just laugh and say: This is nonsense!"
~ Osho
"The
most powerful thing you can do to change the world is to
change your own beliefs about the nature of life, people
and reality, to something more positive... and begin to
act accordingly."
