October ~ The Birthday Boys!!

October is always a fun month in the Clark house as it is a time of celebrating
two birthdays!!

For the last ten years I have celebrated EJ (Vibodha's) birthday with him on October 6th, and now I have the honour of spending Devon's birthday with him on October 9th!

This year (2005) Devon is 2, and his father is 33 >>>

Devon turns 2...

"Dear Devon,

I want to tell you how much I love you. I feel so blessed in every moment that you have come to me and that I can be your guardian in this life.

You truly are a magical little boy, with a divine light inside. You are my teacher, my companion, my son, my friend.

Over the past 2 years I have seen you express yourself in so many ways, all of them a delight to see. You show me how to be playful in life. To you right now your "Harry Potter Bag" and all the balls in it is the centre of your Universe, after me and Daddy of course.

You are a treasure and I am honoured to be your Mum and to hold you as you fall asleep. I cherish creating for you, on this earth, a safe space for you to grow.

I love you very very much my son, Devon, (aged 2 years & 1 day)."

~ A visit to the Aquarium on Devon's 2nd birthday!!
October 9th 2005

We went to see the sea indoors,
and saw to the bottom of the sea's own floor!
With coral and fish, turtles and sharks
twas like a colourful under water park.

See our Visit to the Aquarium of WA.

sssssshhhhhhaaaarrrrrrkkkkk!!!

Water

Speaking of which, 80% of our bodies are water. Water is necessary to all life, and yet it is something we know so little about.

For instance, we don't even know why:

  • Water's solid state is lighter than it's liquid state. (ie: ice floats)
  • It has amazing surface tension. (It holds itself together.) >>

Also, it has just been proven that water has the ability to 'carry' information. Through high speed water-crystal photography, the effects that words, music, pictures, and electromagnetic waves have on water has been recorded and verified.

You'll never speak the same way again, believe me.

See the movie "What The Bleep Do We Know?" or visit www.whatthebleep.com and see some other interesting facts about life as we think we know it.
THE PARKS. We love being out in nature... lots to explore...

We frequently visit the "Oval Park" as Devon calls it.

EJ: It's the Davilak Oval (both in shape and in Name) It's the community Rugby/Cricket pitch, large enough to hold several full sized football fields. It's a wonderfully huge open space. Very good for watching clouds.

He takes his balls from the bottom of his pram (he now has over twenty balls) and throws and kicks them around the field.

This is a picture of his "soccer ball" and his "other soccer ball" >>>>>

One day there was a man mowing the park. >>>

He stopped his tractor right next to us and got out. He thought Devon might be amazed, and let Devon climb inside the tractor!

How friendly!!

Devon loved it!

Devon sat in front of the steering wheel.

He just LOVES tractors, trucks and anything that moves... brummm.

(I think you started something Uncle George!!!)

See Adventures at The Lang Farm June 2005

We also play at Manning Park, which is a great park for kids.

On Monday mornings from 10 'til noon "Buster The Fun Bus" comes to this park. The bus is a free service run by our Council facilitating play and community - it's awesome!

"Buster " is filled with all sorts of toys, easels, trains, and lots of other fun play things.

The children's area at Manning Park has a"Friendship Castle" as the central play area with lots of other slides, fireman's poles, steps, steering wheels, climbing frames and lots of other fab things to see, feel and experience.

E.J. loves it because it has two twisty slides. He used to go with Memom and Poppy to a big metal twisty slide in Philadelphia when he was Devon's age.

Devon loves to go there and either of us take him to one of the parks 5 or 6 days a week.
In the garden

Devon spends a lot of time in the garden together with his dad.

They water, plant and love all the things that live and grow around the house.

It is DIVINE to live in this oasis.

They have created a beautiful garden environment for us. We eat breakfast on the front patio most mornings where we overlook the dozens of giant sunflowers and vibrant bamboo thicket.

We have morning tea out back in the yoga area, overlooking another dozen sunflowers.

We eat lunch now on a low table by the pond, sitting on cushions.

Devon has a few playtoys out here; his rocking horse, his teepee and his own little blue chair.

As I said, it is a beautiful and wonderful space.

One day Vibodha ordered some hay, and Devon and he had great fun distributing it all around the garden.

Darkfield Microscopy

A client of mine, and leading naturopath Elspeth Taimre, owns a Darkfield microscope. I went over and tried it out, looking at live samples of my own blood. I even managed to help get the microscope connected to the television system so we could all see!

It was amazing how quick I picked up the controls of the microscope, having never before used a microscope.

It was fun, and very cool. Thanks Elspeth.

Painting by the pond.

We love painting and drawing together and we have our paintings up all over the house.

On this particular day we created 5 paintings.

It's great to allow yourself to be creative.

Devon paints.

Devon has his own picture frame. It hangs up in his playroom. When he finishes some new pictures we change the current one for the new one. The old pictures are stored inside the box too!!

The new painting is displayed framed and hung up on his playroom wall where it can be appreciated by us.

His latest framed print is this one>>>>>

MUSEUM OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA

We visited the Museum of Western Australia.

It is a natural history museum with dinosaur bones, asteroid pieces, stuffed animals, and a great hands-on collection of artifacts & antiquities.

We learned what we were made of, and how all the land moved away from Australia long ago.

We looked at dozens of moths and other wing-ed creatures and ventured into the Dinosaur Exhibits.

Devon (And Tila) LOVED the dinosaur bones!

Worth a visit!

Daily Activities

Washing the car.

He loves it.

Sleeping in his mother's arms.

CHRISTMAS MORNING & CHRISTMAS NIGHT -2005

Christmas at the Clarks of Australia's home was delightful.

Devon's eyes, wide open as he looked at his sofa filled with all the lovely presents that the family bought him.

He enjoyed opening them and experiencing them all - so thanks everyone!!

We had a wonderful Christmas morning. (We don't celebrate Christmas in a Christian way because we do not follow any particular religious belief system, but we celebrate it because life is about celebration, and everyone else recognizes that this time of year too!)

We had our own Christmas lunch, full plates of roasted, mashed and steamed veggies with gravy... yum delightful.

Santa surprises us with a visit at Pauline, Connor and Nisha's house on Christmas Night...

We spent Christmas Night at a wonderful party.

Our friends Connor (who is Irish) and Pauline (who is Scottish) and their little boy Neesa (who is Australian)' had a Xmas Party!!

What a great night it was, a special place, with special friends.

A lot of us there had left our original birthplace and have no other family here in Western Australia.

It was nice to come together in this way to be each-others family.

Everyone brought something to add to the feast - the table was brimming with (almost entirely vegetarian) food.

Each adult and each child brought a gift. When Santa turned up... he too had a gift for every person!!!

<<<<This is our awesome trance and World Music DJ friend Avi. Check out his website [that V Designed] at www.lamuria.com

Devon got his first present from Santa.

This is Osher and his Mum Peta (Avi's son and wife).

Happy Faces all round.
As I said, the adults got gifts from Santa too!

CUHUNA KOALA PARK - Dec 28th 2005

I don't know how other children grow up, but I think it's awesome that Devon is feeding a kangaroo at age 2.

Really now, that's neat.

He watched as the kangaroo ate from my hand, and after three tries finally kept his hand steady for the joey to eat from it.

Kangaroos... amazing.

See other interesting animals too at our
Visit to Cuhuna Koala Park

I love my Dad...

NEW YEAR'S EVE ~ 8.14PM
The ending of 2005 and the beginning of 2006...
WHAT A GREAT YEAR FOR THE CLARKS OF AUSTRALIA.

"Dear Devon,

I have just held you in my arms until you feel asleep on New Years Eve of 2005.

I feel so blessed and grateful to have you in my life.

You are now sleeping peacefully, listening to the sound of Tibetan Bells and you are in your own bedroom!

We all created your bedroom together over Christmas time.

It has your paintings stuck with blue tack over the walls, you told me where each painting belonged on the wall.

You also stuck up your stars, moons and planets (that glow in the dark) and every night now, for four nights, you have slept in your own bedroom.

You are such a wonderful little boy.

It has your blue fish lamp in there and we have got all the nails to put up your clock from Nannie and Grampa (with dolphins on it) and all the ocean animals Daddy I and bought you for Christmas.

You loved your room from the very first time you slept in and and are happy to be in there. It really all does happen naturally. On the 23rd december you slept ALL NIGHT (from 8pm until 6am) without waking up. It was amazing.

My first full nights sleep in over 2 years!! I am happy to be there for you.

It is such a joy to be guiding you on this adventure of life!

Thanks for another great year my darling Devon (and lovely Vibodha.)
