Life is Amazing

The beginning of the year brings walking to our home. Devon, shoes and all, begins his journey to full mobility.

Being around Devon I am constantly amazed. The things I take for granted I see him learn, sometimes in an instant.

What a wondrous experience, this thing called life. Every moment of it.

Devon enjoys his Christmas Morning (2004)

For Christmas 2004 Devon received LOTS of presents from around the world.

From Flash Cards to great clothes from gardening tools & blocks to music.

Everything a 1 year old could ever want and more.

He really enjoyed everything. He is such a delight!

Thanks for the presents!

Christmas Afternoon 2004 - Cottesloe Beach, Perth

We spent a wonderful Christmas Afternoon (2004) on the Cottesloe Beach with friends.

This is one of the benefits of living in Western Australia... Christmas is HOT!!!

Picnics and friendship a beautiful combination. Devon was the only little one there and he got lots of attention.

It always seems so wonderful and strange to spend Christmas Day on the beach.

Devon won't know anything else, but for us...no snow, no cold.

It is a different vibe for sure!

Cottesloe Beach is one of the nicest beaches in Perth.

New Years Eve and early Morning - 2005.
What a wonderful 2004 and I am sure 2005 will bring many more joys.

On New Years Eve we were invited over to our friends house for dinner - Aseema and Harvey (Aseema is Danica and Simon's Mum).

It was wonderful.

Danica spends a lot of time with Devon and Aseema loves him very much too.

You can see them in this photo happily looking for FISH in the pond.

Devon takes a well earned sleep... he enjoyed the party and slept soundly through the rest of it.

On NEW YEARS EARLY MORNING (at 6am), we joined Vibodha on the beach for Dynamic Meditation.

To our delight the dance party that was being held on the on the beach for New Years Eve was still going on.

I couldn't miss such an opporunity. (Before having Devon I would have been AT the party all night).

Those of you who know me well know I LOVE dance music and Devon and I decided to join the fun for a little while.

People were still enjoying themselves and it was fun to watch and participate.

Dynamic Meditation
6am New Year's Day

New Years Morning was mid-way through my summer's 80 Days of Dynamic Meditation.

Me, Vistara and Bavali meditated on the beach while Tila and Devon took in the Dance Party that was still happening on the next beach North from the night before.

For eighty days I would get up at 5am, do Yoga, and drive 5 minutes to the beach at 6am, meeting a few friends, and practicing Dynamic meditation.

Dynamic Meditation is a one hour active meditation consisting of five parts, accompanied by music. It proceeds: 10 minutes of breathing, 10 minutes of catharsis (emotional release), 10 minutes of jumping (with arms in the air). Then there is 15 minutes of silence (no music) and then 15 minutes of dancing (awakening the body).

60 minutes in all.

For more information on Dynamic Meditation, do a search for 'Dynamic' using the Google search at the bottom of this page.

WAREHOUSE RENOVATION
We bought a house and named it "Little Lefroy"!!!
(because it is on Little Lefroy Lane in South Fremantle)

Our long-term goal has been to invest in property. Now that we have established ourselves and our businesses in Australia the opportunity to invest has become possible.

We looked, and looked, and looked and found a warehouse-style studio apartment in the heart of South Fremantle.

It cost $300,000 - the limit the bank would lend us - but the location is fantastic, and we could see a lot of potential. So, we got the mortgage, borrowed some extra money from Mum and Dad Parkhill (thanks!) and turned our dreams into reality.

For the first time our married life ALL of our money went in to one place. Our new house, Little Lefroy Studio Warehouse.

I had no idea renovation included much so much smashing, lifting, digging, banging, tearing, shifting, clearing, & organisation!!!

We had LOTS of help and support from both new friends and old friends. With borrowed tools I began...

The bathroom was the first thing to go...

The bathroom was small, dark, cramped and unattractive.

Taking it out was FUN.

It's not often I get to tear down walls!

Parrot Haven at Davilak Ave

Another benefit of growing big, healthy, sunflowers is the visitors they attract.

Parrots.
Big multicoloured ones.

I still constantly amazed when I look out my back window and see parrots in MY BACK YARD!

Miracles everywhere.

Living by the beach

It is wonderful living near the beach. I am sure all of you who live near the shore will agree! We visit and swim at the beach often. It is nice to spend family time together by the ocean.

Some of you have asked what a typical day looks like in our family:

In the morning one of us usually has a client and the other one gets to spend the morning with Devon!

The afternoon is usually family time which typically includes getting household-type things done (gardening, laundry, etc). The evenings are family and friends time.

After Devon sleeps we enjoy our alone time too. This is the routine Monday to Saturday.

Sundays is 'Magical Marriage Day' :) This is the day we spend enjoying each other's company and the company of our miraculous baby boy. ~Yahoo

Devon

January has delivered the gift of running.

As you can see, shoes tied, Devon is learning to balance, run...

... and to throw.

Devon's favourite story is 'Snuggle Puppy' a little song-book about a puppy and how much he is loved. Tom and Amanda bought it for him.

He points out the things he knows (ball, bucket, shovel) as he turns the pages.

Devon watches his "movies" on the TV. He is so cute.

They are actually "Baby Einstein" educational videos and he learns a lot from them.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Warehouse Renovation

Even as I watch myself doing this...

Observing the space transforming...

I wonder whether I know what I am doing or not...

Only time will tell....
