New Year Celebration

Happy New Year.

When I studied photography all those years ago, I learned to use LIGHT to create beautiful photographs.

I couldn't resist the opportunity to try sparkler-art photography.

Photographed by Tila Clark on our Canon Powershot G2 digital camera.

I have re-discovered my passion for photography!
Life With Devon continues to be amazing!!

I just LOVE being Devon's Mum.

This morning, it took him five minutes to open his eyes.

He was making cute noises and flinging his arms around, squeaking and groaning before finally opening his eyes.

And when he did, he gave me a great big smile… he is
so o o o o o o o o o o o o oo cute.

I have just been holding him in my arms. As he fell off to sleep, tears filled my eyes at how much I love him.

Everyday I am grateful that he has joined us in this life.

january 04 - now

november 03 - then

Devon likes the bath and the shower.

It is amazing how 'loose' he is now compared to when he arrived.

He used to be much more compact.

Here's a photo of what he looked like in November.

This morning I got a beautiful breakfast in bed from my adorable husband. Delicious crumpets, scrambled eggs, vitamins, juice and tea!!

This is his way of acknowledging me for getting up in the night to feed Devon while letting him sleep [except for last night when he got up with me twice too!]

Swimming (Video)

We went and visited our friends Cass and Jeff, and Devon had his first swim.

See the photos here.

We also took a video. Click to see the video: Swimming with Devon Video

Belly to belly

This has got to be one of the most beautiful images I have ever taken.

My two loves.

Painting Memories

Lisa got me a canvas as a present.

One day, while Devon and I were together, I felt inspired.

I got the canvas out, put the gorgeous boy down into his bouncer... and noticed that he was about the same size as the canvas.

Hmmm.

Why not...!

I have no photos of the process of creating this painting.

Managing Devon with orange and red, paint-covered feet was a two handed task.

Having a record of the size of Devon's feet reminds me of the time my dad paved our back stairs... I'm sure my hand print is still there to this day.

Way back when...

Speaking of way-back-when, I recently received this photograph via email...

Yes, the boy on the right, is indeed, me.

In 1981.

Special thanks to Adrian Newell for sending me the photograph. To find out more about Adrian Newell, click here: Hunter Soccer Camp. Adrian has been coaching there since before this photo was taken. How old does that make you, anyway, Adrian?

A Cruse in the Park

One day we went to the park with the Cruse family.

This is me and Tristin Cruse.

This is not how we left him...

Devon's gone down to bed. He's been asleep for about ten minutes... we hear a squeak over the baby monitor...

Hmmm. He's awoken.

Upon entering his bedroom, we find the source of the disturbance...

Our little boy has managed to squirm his way out of his baby sleeper, unravel himself from his snugly wrapped bunny rug, and twisted himself round 45degrees... his feet excitedly bashing the cot and the wall.

This was so cute I risked waking him up more, using flash photography, just to get this picture. ((Don't worry, he went straight back to sleep. What a good boy.))

Possibility Breakfast

I created a fun way to be with friends, and to create what we want in our lives, I called it Our “Possibility Breakfast”.

We invited a few of our good friends. Vistara, Karen, Anna and David, Pat, Melissa and us three were there.

We sat our in the gorgeous pond area, that Vibodha has fixed up so beautifully.

We started with a short meditation and then every person had the opportunity to say 3 things that they were grateful for in 2003.

I am grateful for:
1. Devon, OF COURSE, who couldn’t be he is so divine.
2. My family and friends who have provided me with so much support over the last year.
3. Landmark Education and for the distinctions it has brought into my life.

We had a delicious breakfast and then everyone had the chance to request what they wanted for 2004. So…

I started with:

  1. I request that we have our residency confirmed by the end of January this year [after a 17 month wait].
  2. My second request is to be pregnant with our second baby before the end of this year.
  3. My third request is to have 3 rental properties by the end of the year.

WELL…

Only 2 days AFTER the request, we heard the news… we now have been granted Australian RESIDENCY!!!

So now, when we return to Perth after our round the world trip we will be able to live here permanently.

HURRAY!!

A ROUND~THE~WORLD TRIP

We leave in early March for a two and a half month trip.

We go to Barbados for a week for my brother Russell’s wedding [nice eh!! Thanks Russell and Tash!!!].

Then we go to Philly for 6 weeks to hang out with our American family…we are looking forward to that, they are so much fun.
[I request fine sunny weather].

Then we go to Northern Ireland for 3 weeks, so we will have seen my family for the second time, which is great.

Then we go to Rome for 5 nights and home to Perth via Hong Kong for 4 days.

Travel Tips for Babies

I am reading a book called Baby Tips. For travel and holidays it says [go on a small trip first, taking only a short flight to test it out].

We now have our tickets around the world booked and our first leg is 4 airline changes from Perth – Sydney- LA – Miami [overnight stop], Barbados . So that definitely does NOT fall into the category of a short flight!!

Ahh well, I am sure Devon will adjust as we do.

Our friends from KL arrive in Perth

Well, it is great news. Nirmaljit, Hardif and the girls arrived over to Perth.

They have emigrated here as well, so we are delighted.

Hardif is an excellent cook and we enjoy eating her delicious Indian food.

We went over the their house for a meal, and had a great time. it is always a lot of fun there.

Nirmal has all the latest "toyz for boyz" and we were watching Indiana Jones on the big screen like at the movies!!

This is them outside their house.

More Osteopathy...

we are over at Anna and David's. Since that first osteopathy session they have become good friends of ours.

We enjoy their company very much.

Australia Day
Perth, Western Australia

We celebrated Australia Day and the news that we just got our Australian Residency with Nis, Pameo & Simon on the banks of the river overlooking Perth.

See Australia Day 2004

It's kind of like the 4th of July in the USA.
