Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The Beginning of December 2000

December was a great month. We had a leaving dinner with SQC about the 5th and got ourselves ready to leave Malaysia for Palm Springs, California on the 9th December. We were going there to meet Gerry at IBI - Income Builders International, an amazing experience for those who are ready, but that's another story.

We were sad to leave KL but knowing we are returning in a few short months is great! We have made some great friends, and has some life-changing experiences. The weather is so beautiful and we know we are going to be entering the freezing cold when we fly into the United States for the next month and a half!

This is me with Yong and Lee. The photo above and beside was taken during the leaving dinner with the SkyQuestCom staff. The meal was delicious! We could probably make a whole website on the food we have eaten (or not eaten) in Malaysia.

From Malaysia to the USA

These are the worlds tallest buildings, the KL Twin Towers. They are right in the center of the city. For more shots of KL look here: KL - The Towers.

Well, our time came to an end in Kuala Lumpur, so we packed up our apartment, filled 4 bags ... what stuff do we have now!! and left for the airport.

We arrived in LA airport on Sunday and hired a car. It had one of those new Global Positioning Systems in it. THEY ARE GREAT! We typed in the place we were going to (and YES, I mean the STREET ADDRESS) and using satellite we were directed (by graphics and voice) all the way to our destination.

I would highly recommend when you next need to rent a car that you use Hertz and experience it for yourself...never be lost again! (It is called the NeverLost system.)

California, here we come...
10th of December 2002

Well, we landed in California without much hassle. We even got to spend about twenty minutes in the Tokyo Airport. We stopped and bought a bag of sweets (which we couldn't decipher) to bring back to my folks in Philadelphia. I considered it a cultural gamble.

Our purpose of going to California was to attend the Income Builders International seminar and conference. Not knowing what to expect, we were quite surprised when we arrived at the resort in Palm Springs. I think Lisa is about to tell you about it, so I'll sign off ...

Palm Springs, California
11 - 19th December 2000

This was our resort hotel for the conference. It was a week long, "full on" seminar experience.

The setting was beautiful and it made our time there very pleasant. Not that we got to spend much time in our room! Meetings started at 6.30am and we were up usually until 12 midnight or 1 am. We gained a LOT from the course, and left feeling exhilarated! In fact it was a wondrous experience I would recommend to anyone interested in going to the top!

If you would like to see some of our IBI friends, check it out here: Palm Springs.

Palm Springs is really just a big beach with no ocean, not at all as we expected it to be!

Everything in USA is so much bigger...just look at the size of this truck!

Disneyland, LA
Festive Time 2001

Then we took the obligatory trip to DISNEYLAND OF COURSE...No trip to LA is complete without a visit. We had a lot of fun. More pictures here: Disneyland.

We stayed in the Disneyland Hotel, where one of the great guys on the front desk took a liking to us and delivered fresh strawberries, ice cream, brown sugar and a bottle of apple cider on ice to our room...it was delicious!! It shows you what can happen if you are nice to people.

Christmas in Glenside Philadelphia
Festive Time 2001

We left California on the 19th, my Mum's birthday, and headed off to Philadelphia to spend Christmas time with our stateside family. We worked out we hadn't seen them in 18 months!

There we relaxed for a couple of days, put up the Christmas Tree, slept and ate.

Tom, EJ's brother, has a flight on New Years day for Brighton, England. That's were he is right now, so we were getting as much time in with him as possible...except he drinks and we don't really and he spent most of the time in the pub! We had a great Christmas in Philly and yes there are giant icicles...

EJ's grandparents didn't know that we were coming home so it was a great surprise, there were 15 people for Christmas dinner and it was a lot of fun.

New Year's EVE 2001
New Jersey Shore ~ USA

For New Year's Eve we decided to take up an invitation of several close friends and go to the Jersey Shore with them all.

Many of them had been E.J.'s friends from High School and college. It was a riot.

We stayed in a house on the shore, in the snow and just chilled out the whole time.

I have included a selection of the 580 photos that were taken on the weekend.

E.J. was snapping pictures and throughout the weekend he projected them up on the wall with our digital projector, and we were able to watch our weekend progress.

Just before midnight on New Years Eve we had a run through of all the pictures.

You will also see that during the weekend many were to be found lying in front of the huge screen. We had a ton of mattresses, and everybody flopped all over the place. It was really like a home cinema.

Fantasia is quite an intense movie, isn't it, really?

Some people were playing drinking games, that was fun to witness - the rest of us just relaxed.

Just after midnight we all went up on the roof and drank champagne.

We had a great time with all the gang and we thank them for a great ending to the first year of the new millennium, and a great start to 2001.

You can see the full pictures here: New Year at the Jersey Shore. (Please note this may take a while to download there are a LOT of snaps)

On New Year's Morning (Jan 1st) we went down to the beach which was COVERED IN SNOW! What an amazing sight. Walking on the beach in 2 feet of snow!! Strange feeling. See it NOW...
