My First Phillies Game

The Citizens Bank Stadium is home to the Phillies and is a brand new stadium. In fact during our time in Glenside the old stadium was demolished.

The atmosphere was electric and I was SO EXCITED...The walk down to our seats is one I will remember forever. I can see why so many people love the ball game!

On the drive down E.J. explained the rules again and I felt ready to watch.

I originally thought the scores were high in baseball games, like cricket...but now I know that is is actually quite difficult to score a run.

Just when the game was hotting up out came the only mascot in baseball. The Phillies are the only team with a mascot and here he is...with me!!
He is the 'Phillies Phanatic' and he comes out at various times and places throughout the game. He is a real crowd pleaser!!

We all enjoyed the game very much.

It was Tom who got the tickets and it was great for the three of them and me to spend the night together.

Devon was at home with Mom Mom America and Coach!

It had been quite a while since Vibodha (E.J.) had been to a game too!

The Phillies were winning..thre crowd was cheering and I thought that there was no way that we could loose...

drat...

but up against the Arizona Diamond Backs I here there is always a chance that you will loose...

Half time...out comes the Phillies Phanatic, Shawn laughed so much...she says this would NEVER happen at a Yankees game...

He is driven around in a little truck and fires out HOTDOGS into the crowd!!

Hilarious!

Then the game turns around. The bell that you see in this photo goes off when the Phillies score a HOME RUN.

A HOME RUN is when someone goes all the way around the bases and scores a run. They get that automatically if the ball is in play and goes out of the ballpark!!

Unfortunately I did not see it go off in this game and we actually lost in the end.
I did however see three home runs back to back on TV a few days later!! Hurray!!

Junk food, of course a must!!
The Stadium is absolutely spectacular.
Ah!! True love after all these years.
