Our Jungle House,

Khao Sok National Park, Thailand.

This is our accommodation when we stayed in the Khao Sok National Park. Our hut was right beside a babbling river, under the most spectacular limestone cliffs and in its own little space of land with another bungalow. I have shown you pictures of the river view nearby where we walked and swam.

This place costs £9.50 per night. It is also possible to stay in a tree house as well. It is Our Jungle House and its in all the guide books.

It is described as the "most romantic" of all the Jungle accommodation and it definitely is. The walk through the Jungle at night to the huts is crazy.

The pathway is lined with torches and lamplight and the sounds we hear are so far removed from the sounds we are used to. And you search for snakes and scorpions at night in our bedroom and bathroom!

We took a very leisurely canoe trip through one of the other parks there. The scenery was beautiful.

The sun was beating down and we went with our friends: Hello to Irene, Vitorio, Stella, Bruce, Jill, Leicester, Matthew, Emma and Jens!

We have been having great fun here, the family are really friendly and we have been hanging out together in the evenings as well around our camp fire outside, which EJ builds every night.

Damien is 3 and speaks fluent Thai and English.

It is funny to ask a 3 year old "what is the Thai word for .......?" and he knows the answer! cool.

Francis is from Belfast and is good fun. He is married to Tim, all the Thais have nicknames and that is hers. Damien is actually their grandson.

In Thai life it is quite common for the bringing up of children to skip a generation. Thai girls can have children as young as 15 yrs old and then their parents look after the child. This means they will be older and more able to look after their child's child later! Quite a neat idea really.

It's good to hear an accent from home. We went to their farm for the day and ate traditional Thai cuisine which Tim's sister cooked.

I have also been in the kitchen learning to cook. I hope to be able to make the Clark household a delicious Thai meal when I get to Philly, so watch this space!

We spent a full day trekking up to a spectacular lake full of Kharst formations. Then we visited a rafthouse which is cute. The bedrooms are little grass huts and your front door opens out onto the lake and in the morning when you want to cool down from the heat, just open your door and JUMP!

The guy swimming with me is Walter. He is a great guy from Boulder, Colorado.
