We drove all the way into Bologna, it took about 1 and a half hours from our mountain dwelling! (ILSentiero...check it out here: IL Sentiero (it means the Path).

We parked just on the edge of the city centre and walked in.

The city is beautiful, with spectacular architecture pretty much all around. it had a real vibrancy and life about it.

Walked to the base of the TWO TOWERS. One is leaning too! Check it out.

We walked through many of the narrow streets, being guided by our intuition and heading in the direction of the large park.

It was divine, a great atmosphere.

Then we discovered this great cheese shop. Those are giant circles of cheese, and it's delicious too. Pecorino...YUMMMMMY!

After walking for around 30 minutes we found the park and had our picnic lunch.

Devon fell asleep in the back pack and we laid him down in the pack on his back next to us.

We had a delicious lunch and chatted to two missionaries for The Church of Latter Day Saints. It was quite an interesting conversation.

After a delightful time in the park we started to make our way back. Vibodha led the way and guess what we found...would you believe it...a PEACE celebration.
How wonderful. Apparently president Bush was in Rome and the people of Bologna wanted to dance for PEACE.
So we, of course, joined in the dance for peace!

Then Vibodha/E.J. spotted a THUNDERCLOUD.

We started to quicken our pace, knowing that we had about a 40 minute walk back.

The cloud followed us and we decided to stop for gelati (icecream..delicious ice cream!).

Then we made a sprint for it but had to camp underneath a tree as the heavens opened and the rain poured down.

Even hail stones!

I waved down a college girl and her boyfriend luckily he spoke English and I asked if they could drive us to our car park as Devon would be hungry soon and it was getting cold.

They did drive us, how lovely and when we got there this was the sight over our car.

A blessed ending to a blessed day in Bologna.

I highly recommend this city for fun and atmoshpere.
