April 2005 Warehouse Renovations
South Fremantle, Western Australia |

Finishing the Job |
Finally, we're almost at the end.
We did NOT expect it would take us this long to complete, however it was much, much more beautiful than we had anticipated too!
It all came down to finishing (ie: the last touches that make a project complete.)
The upstairs only needed a few paint touch-ups and the doors to the wardrobe needed painting.
|
Downstairs, the mural still needed to be finished.
While all this was happening, we advertised the warehouse apartment in the newspapers to find a tenant. It was our intention to find someone who wanted to live here long-term.
We had several enquiries and a few people came to look at the house.
|
While they thought it was beautiful, most of them had a reason why NOT to rent it from us. "I've got too much stuff to fit," or "It's nice, but too small for me," were among the most common reasons for not renting it.
But on we went, finishing the place, trusting that we would find the perfect person.
As I said, "We wouldn't have created such a beautiful property and not find anyone to rent it." Trust, trust, trust.

For years I have had this avocado tree growing in a pot in the back garden. I planted it during our trip to Australia in 2001, left it with a friend, and when we returned a year later I had a tree!
I knew it needed to be put into the ground - that's only fair - yet I wanted it to be in a place where I could look after it for years to come.
Finally, I had the land, and in it went.
It will give great shade to the courtyard in a few years and will be beautiful to sit under. |
Devon kept the garden well watered, wanting to use the hose on almost every visit. Thanks to him the lillies grew almost a foot in two weeks!

After a few more prospective tenants came and went we looked at our options.
We had been thinking all along that if we had furniture in the house it would make a difference.
We knew It was unlikely that a tenant would have the exact furniture to match the style of the house. |

So, after much deliberation, we fully furnished it.
We bought a fridge, microwave, kitchenware, washing machine, television, DVD player, towels, linen, a queen-sized bed & mattress, rug, heater, and everything you need for comfort.
|
| Then, decided to make it a holiday rental. Fremantle is, after all, the place everybody comes to relax and unwind. |
And now it looks like this... |
  |
  |
|
That's all for now. Renovations complete!
|
Dream it, believe it, live it. |
