LAUGH Kookaburra LAUGH. I AM.

The Frog on the Leaf

One morning I woke to find a frog on a leaf over our pond.

It was a rather big frog.

He got me thinking.

I wondered what he was thinking.

Perhaps he wondering the same thing about me?

Anyway, he got me to thinking about how amazing life is... that a big, fat, red-eyed, slippery, golden frog was here... sitting patiently... above our pond.

Life sure is wondrous.

The Lizard(s) of Davilak Avenue

Ah yes.

The Lizard who got into our house.

Now that's a story you HAVE to have pictures to appreciate, so here goes...

One day, while going to get Mummy the bouncy ball for Devon, I noticed a movement out of the corner of my eye.

It was a lizard. ( I later found out that they're called Bluetails.)

A big one.

And he was in OUR living room.

Two questions went through my mind.

1. How did it get IN?

2. How am I going to get it OUT?

I tried approaching him (or her) nicely, but to no avail.

So we stood there.

Staring at each other.

((Wondering what each other might be thinking, too.))

I figured that since I couldn't very well leave him (or her) to wander around the house, he (or she) had to go.

So I got a box, scuttled him into it, and brought him outside, where s/he belongs.

However...

S/he showed his/her appreciation for going back outside with what looked like a fold out tongue!

(The black part seemed to FOLD out from the mouth instead of STICK out.)

And s/he stared at me again.

So I tumbled him/her out (gently) by the pond and left him/her to his own devices.

I saw him/her later that week with ANOTHER one.

They must be partners, or friends at least.

You can get a sense of their size.

They have legs but they look like they mostly SLIDE across the ground with their legs pushing them.

They ARE fast though. They move quick when they want to.

Here's a task for you.

Can you spot the two lizards here in the grass and rock?

Here's one.

And here's the other.

They're our LOCAL animals. And by Local, I mean right outside our back door (and sometimes inside.) I hope you've enjoyed this animal adventure.
